ENGLISH SCHOOLS ATHLETICS ASSOCIATION TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are looking to recruit aprox 70 volunteers to support the English Schools Athletics Association Track & Field Championships to be held 5th & 6th July 2013 at the Alexander Stadium.

The ESAA National Championships are the 4th largest athletics event in the World… staged each year. They have been televised live by SKY Sports since 2008.

Organised entirely by volunteer teachers, we bring together the best athletes in each County in England to compete for the honour of being the best athlete in the Country at their event.

Entry to the event is by virtue of athletes being selected by County Team Managers to represent their County. Prime consideration is given to performances at County Championships which are normally held sometime around the 2nd week of June, but other outstanding performances at other events may be taken into consideration.

Nearly all the UK Olympic Athletics team members have featured in the ESAA Championships, some other Olympic Team members too

There will be a wide range of volunteer roles to choose from. To view the roles in greater detail please Click Here.

BRITISH ATHLETICS UK TRIALS & CHAMPIONSHIPS

Alexander Stadium are hosting British Athletics UK Trails & Championships on the 13th & 14th July 2013.

Britain’s best athletes will return to the Birmingham Alexander Stadium for the biggest date in their 2013 calendar as 600 athletes take part in the Sainsbury’s British Championships.

With places on Britain’s team to the IAAF World Championships in Moscow up for grabs across the weekend, the stars of British athletics will need to be on top form if they want to secure a place on the British team.

Britain’s two defending world champions from 2011, Mo Farah and Dai Greene, will be keen to reproduce the form that took them to glory in Daegu two summers ago, whilst Olympic heroes such as Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu and Robbie Grabarz will be ones to watch as they seek to guarantee their spots on the plane to Russia.

We are looking for volunteers to support the event over the two days.

  CARNIVAL

The streets of Birmingham will come alive with the sounds and colour of the Birmingham Carnival on Sunday 4th August at Handsworth Park.

Thousands of people are expected to line the parade route and take part in festivities in Handsworth Park.

The event takes place between 12noon – 8.30pm with a procession at 1.00pm from Holyhead Road.

The procession will proceed along Soho Road, Rookery Road, Oxhill Road, Church Lane, Hamstead Road, Villa Road and Soho Road leading into Handsworth Park via Grove Lane. There will be a rolling road closure system in place on the day. The parade is estimated to arrive at Handsworth Park around 4.30pm.
