The 2013 British BMX Championships will be hosted on the weekend of the 24 and 25 August. The event will incorporate other activities starting on the Wednesday with balance bike racing sponsored by Strider/Melrose Kids. There will also be additional open sessions for riders on the Wednesday and Thursday as well as spectator and participation events, which are still in the pipeline.

Before official practice on Friday evening the campsite will open on Wednesday morning giving riders and families a full five days of BMX activities.

Birmingham BMX Club was established in 2009, hosting a round of the UEC International series in 2011 and two rounds of the British BMX Series in 2012.

Britain’s best athletes will return to the Birmingham Alexander Stadium for the biggest date in their 2013 calendar as 700 athletes take part in the British Athletics World Trials and UK & England Championships.

With places on Britain’s team to the IAAF World Championships in Moscow up for grabs across the weekend, the stars of British athletics will need to be on top form if they want to secure a place on the British team.

Britain’s two defending world champions from 2011, Mo Farah and Dai Greene, will be keen to reproduce the form that took them to glory in Daegu two summers ago, whilst Olympic heroes such as Jessica Ennis, Greg Rutherford, Christine Ohuruogu and Robbie Grabarz will be ones to watch as they seek to guarantee their spots on the plane to Russia.

The star-studded British Athletics Birmingham Grand Prix returns to the Birmingham Alexander Stadium on Sunday 30 June. Now in its third year, the prestigious Samsung Diamond League meet will welcome a world-class line up to the West Midlands as the best athletes in the world take to the track and field.

Double Olympic champion Mo Farah was one of the stars of the show here in 2012, treating the capacity 13,000 crowd to a strong victory over two miles, whilst local hero Robbie Grabarz cleared 2.32m to take top honours in the high jump.

Among the international stars on show, American Carmelita Jeter got the better of Olympic champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in their continuing rivalry over 100m, Germany’s colourful Olympic discus champion Robert Harting continued his two-year winning streak, and 110m hurdles champion Aries Merritt added to an incredibly consistent season, clocking another sub-13 second time

Tickets are now on general sale for the 2013 British Athletics Series with Samsung Diamond League events taking place in Birmingham and London.

The world’s best athletes will descend on the nation’s capital as the British Athletics London Grand Prix returns to Crystal Palace on 26-27 July. Considered one of the best Samsung Diamond League meets in the world, 2012 saw a host of British and international champions put in show-stopping performances.

The huge task of rebuilding New Street started in 2010, with a commitment to keeping the station open for passengers until it is  finish in 2015.

In April 2013, everything changes at New Street as the half way point of the project is reached. The concourse and the existing entrances you use today will close and three new entrances will open into the first half of your new station.

The new atrium won’t be unveiled until the end of the project in 2015, the first half of the station will open in April will have all of the facilities you expect, plus new lifts and escalators to every platform to improve access.

This event has been jointly organised by UK Counties Athletic Union, UKA and Birmingham City Council’s Events Team.
